Exploring Northumberland- Up In Sunny Craster

A rare day off with the other half, and doggy sitting the neighbour's beautiful Springer Spaniel, Mist, meant only one thing yesterday morning. Knowing that (in typical British weather fashion) it was going to become cloudy and gross somewhere around 11, we sprung out of bed at 8am sharp, hopped in the car with mist, accompanied by the usual squad, Jerry and Izzy, and started our expert (dismal) journey through the winding North East country roads, to the beautifully secluded fishing village of Craster, home to the mysterious Dunsanburgh Castle.

We walked about 4 miles all over Craster, over the fields, climbing the cliffs, investigating the rock pools, and circling the castle. Naturally, I was accompanied by my trusty camera the entire way through, and managed to capture some of the local posers.

Everywhere you looked there was the opportunity for beautiful views, and of course, great photos, and I thoroughly enjoyed trying myself at some landscapes, and losing my sheep photography virginity ( I know that sounds odd, we're rolling with it). The sheer purity of the blue in the sky, the beautiful arrangement of the clouds, and the local wildlife that wandered freely mere feet away from us, the happy families exploring instead of being stuck in the house. The whole atmosphere gives you a warm fuzzy as you sit atop a cliff, a feeling that you struggle tor replicate anywhere else. All this was amazing, but my favourite part of the walk was watching Mist come into her own,

Mist is a beautiful, but nervy little Springer, most comfortable with her Mam or Dad no more that 5 feet away. She was initially sceptical about getting in our car, and didn't say much on the journey, but she could not help but begin to edge out of her shell with us on the hills and cliffs, overpowered with the joy of the fresh air, and the sheer amount of new stuff around her, I managed to catch her in her happiest moments with us there, and send the photos about 50 miles south to her proud as punch Mam, who then showed all her friends.

After the walk, the five of us piled into the local dog friendly pub, The Jolly Fisherman (adorable), shared locally caught crab sandwiches and chips whilst overlooking the harbour. It was a truly beautiful day, it is for days like this, that I am a photographer.
